Asparagus Kale

Brassica oleracea

A heritage kale variety that produces flat kale leaves throughout the winter. In spring the young shoots can be blanched and eaten like asparagus. If the shoots are picked regularly it will keep producing until June. A single strong plant will produce a handful of shoots every other day. A late sowing can produce a useful crop of small leaves for salads and stir-frying.
