This is a heritage 6-row, or Bere barley, from Scotland. Bere used to be grown along the west coast of Ireland and Britain but is now only grown in the Orkney islands and possibly the Shetlands. It is very hardy and adapted to windy sites and poor soil. Sow from March to April, taking care to protect from birds when sown and when ripening. Harvest August/September Approx 200 seeds
