St John's wort

Hypericum perforatum, St John's wort is the Hypericum renowned for its medicinal effects. It has been used to treat wounds and depression. It can be distinguished for other species of Hypericum by holding the leaves up to the light to observe the small transluscent glands, or perforations. The seeds are very small and take time to germinate.
